CS 373 Spring 2021 Week 7: Pranay Kalagara

What did you do this past week?
Last week I finished up the first phase of the project with my group. We worked up until Saturday so it was a little stressful but we got it done. I also tried to catch up on some work for other classes.
What’s in your way?
I have a lot of work coming up this week for other classes so I have to be able to balance that with my current schedule. I also want to do a better job of getting ahead on the projects so I need to do a good job of managing my time in order to stay on point.
What will you do next week?
Meet with my group and plan out what needs to be done for phase 2. I also have a lot of catching up to do for other classes so I need to get on top of that as fast as possible.
If you read it, what did you think of the Open-Closed Principle?
I’ve read about the principle before in OOP last semester. I think it’s a very important concept and something that can help the code but I always struggle to implement it in my code. Hopefully I get better at doing so.
What was your experience of iterators and reduce2?
I thought they were interesting to learn about but I actually missed class the day we did reduce2 so I have to go back to read up about that. I have heard though that it showed a good practical application of iterators.
What made you happy this week?
I went back home to Dallas after being for Austin for a while and so it was nice to be with family again.
What’s your pick-of-the-week or tip-of-the-week?
My pick of the week is learning how to dual boot windows machines. Being able to use Linux is incredibly useful, however, windows machines do not come pre-built with the environment. So dual-booting your system can be incredibly useful and save you the stress of windows cmd prompt!
